MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

To assist ALS in delivering excellent critical care within the CCRS environment based on sound clinical judgement and in-depth knowledge of all CCRS equipment and processes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

Ensure operational readiness for emergency calls for CCRS transfers. Maintaining vehicles and equipment servicing and readiness.

Set-up of medical equipment required for each transfer. Support ALS with patient preparation for transfer and driving duties

Market and  maintain a positive public image for ER24

REQUIRED EDUCATION

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION: Ambulance Emergency Assistant Certificate  or  Higher certificate in emergency medical care

DESIRED EDUCATION: Courses in communications, driving, BLS HCP, ACLS HCP, PALS, ITLS. Successful completion of training related to Clinical Practice Guidelines published by the Health Professions Council of South Africa will be advantageous. If not compliant with the clinical practice guidelines at the time of application you will be required to complete this training during your probation period if successful in your application.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 2-year experience with verifiable exposure to critical care setting

DESIRED EXPERIENCE: 2 year ILS experience

REQUIRED JOB SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Facilities, travel routes and demographical area
  • HPCSA guidelines and scope of practice
  • Application of best practice
  • Understanding of ICU/ CCRS transfers
  • Proficiency in the English language (written and verbal)
  • EMS and CCRS environment
