MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

To provide professional support, awareness and education to patients and their families on diagnoses and treatment required to manage personal diabetes protocols and plans in a safe manner

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

1. To educate patients and families in self-managing diabetes   effectively

2. To provide input into diabetes educational projects that will enhance revenue/exposure for the hospital and increase social awareness

3. To conduct CNE lectures to nursing employees and other related services employees on diabetes management

4. To manage and monitor the diabetes care plan for patients in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team

REQUIRED EDUCATION

Essential: Post graduate 1 year diploma in Diabetes Education

Bachelor’s degree in Nursing Science 

Desired: Master’s degree in Education

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

Essential: At least 5 years’ experience as a Registered Nurse

Desired: At least 5 years’ experience as a Registered Nurse of which at least 2 years involved treatment of diabetes patients

At least 1 year experience with Diabetes Education

REQUIRED JOB SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Application of project management principles
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in MS Office applications
  • Demonstrate the ability to counsel effectively
  • Insulin injection techniques
  • Knowledge of the UAE regulatory requirements regarding diabetes management and education
  • Verbal and written communication skills in English (Arabic will be an advantage)
