MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
To procure and manage pharmaceutical stock effectively and optimally to enable the healthcare team to provide quality patient care and prevent financial losses. Timeously bill all pharmaceutical items (ethical and surgical) utilised to the patient’s account. Maintain scheduling of theatre slates, perform the booking of scheduled patients and ensure clinical coding for the booking is completed. Control and maintain the AS400 stock system effectively to ensure efficient pharmacy processes and accurate financial reporting.
KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS
Implement and maintain an efficient replenishment process to ensure optimal stock availability.
Ensure efficient stock holding processes for pharmaceutical products to secure correct on-hand quantities on the system to minimise financial losses.
Effectively distribute pharmaceutical stock to all stock holding areas ensuring correct levels up to the agreed maximums.
Ensure all the criteria for scheduling of theatre cases are accurate, maintained, and processed in time.
Effectively and timeously process the information related to patient stay to ensure complete patient accounts for accurate financial reporting.
Ensure correct stock valuation and patient accounts by evaluation of the system reports.
Co-ordinate, prepare for and facilitate stock takes to ensure accurate financial reporting.
Communicate effectively ensuring cooperation between all role players thereby facilitating good client relations and financial results.
REQUIRED EDUCATION
ESSENTIAL EDUCATION: Grade 12
DESIRED EDUCATION: Stock Control Management Course
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 1-2 Years Stock Control experience
DESIRED EXPERIENCE: Knowledge of items used in Theatre environment
REQUIRED JOB SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
- Computer Stock system processes
- Stock holding processes and relevant policies
- Computer literate (Microsoft Office)
- Knowledge of theatre procedures and related stock items
