MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
To support the efficient operation of the stores by receiving, checking, storing, issuing and recording stock accurately; maintaining an organised and secure storage environment; and assisting with stocktaking, document control and internal deliveries to ensure that departments receive the correct supplies on time.

REQUIRED EDUCATION
ESSENTIAL EDUCATION
Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate or equivalent qualification
DESIRED EDUCATION
Certificate or short course in stores management, stock control, warehousing or logistics
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL MINIMUM EXPERIENCE
Previous experience in receiving, checking, storing, picking or issuing stock in a stores, warehouse or similar environment
DESIRED EXPERIENCE
One to two years’ experience in a stores or stock control environment
REQUIRED JOB SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
- Basic stock receiving, storage, issuing and distribution procedures
- Delivery notes, requisitions, purchase orders and supporting stock documentation
- Stock rotation principles, including FIFO and FEFO where applicable
- Stocktaking procedures and the importance of accurate stock records
- Safe storage, manual handling, housekeeping and store security practices
- Procedures for reporting damaged, missing, excess or obsolete stock
- Filing, archiving, confidentiality and authorised disposal of documents
- Customer service standards and organisational values
- Infection prevention practices relevant to healthcare stores
- Electronic inventory systems and barcode processes
