MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

To ensure the specialised cleaning of hospital linen, kitchen, patient and general hospital environments and provide nutricious meals to the patients.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

  1. Supervise and coordinate general assistants.
  2. Manage housekeeping, catering and laundry equipment and stock.
  3. Ensure hygienically clean hospital,  theatre, kitchen and linen.
  4. Ensure appropriate, nutrious meals for patients.
  5. Fulfill duties with regards to environmental sustainability.

REQUIRED EDUCATION

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION

Grade 12

Certificate in Microsoft Office

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL MINIMUM EXPERIENCE

Supervisory experience in housekeeping and catering

DESIRED EXPERIENCE

Experience in a healthcare facility or hospital environment

REQUIRED JOB SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Cleaning materials, equipment, chemicals and detergents
  • Principles of cleaning and disinfection of a hospital environment
  • Stock control principles
  • Relevant healthcare / hospital hygiene and safety policies and procedures
  • Linen categories, functionalities and soring
  • Patient Safety Principles
  • Knowledge of IPC protocols and principles
  • Computer literate (Microsoft Office)
