MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

To ensure a safe, positive patient experience by supporting the Unit Manager and Deputy  Nursing Manager (Theatre) in the co ordination  of the theatre   and management of the CSSD  department.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

  • Ensure comprehensive and safe patient care by mitigating risks and meeting set clinical quality standards
  • Manage the patient experience through ensuring that the CSSD is effectively managed
  • Ensure optimal supply, retention and utilization of staffing resources
  • management of workforce including staff  planning and adherence to HR policies and protocols
  • Empower and build staff competence through continuous assessment and development
  • Assist with the effective management of operational expenses (including stock and capital)
  • Support the main theatre/s and theatre management

REQUIRED EDUCATION

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION:

  • Degree/ Diploma in General Nursing
  • Post graduate Diploma in Theatre

DESIRED EDUCATION:

  • Midwifery

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:

  • 3 years post qualification experience

DESIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • 1 year shift leader experience

REQUIRED JOB SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Pharmacology
  • Nursing record keeping
  • Nursing processes and procedures
  • Computer literate (Microsoft Office)
  • Relevant nursing legislation
  • Infection prevention and control
  • Scientific nursing principles and process
  • Audit patient records
  • Patient assessment skills
  • Develop/ modify a nursing care plan
  • Scope of practice for nurse practitioners
  • For specialised wards; ACLS; ATLS; PALS trained;
  • Risk identification
  • Analysing and interpretation skills
  • Basic life support trained
  • Mentorship
